Topic Brainstorm

Weapons of the Gods

The topic of "weapons of the gods" is something that I would be interested to writing and further research about. One of the reasons being is there are so many different sorts of these relics, and each reflects a certain power that the god possesses. I've always loved these aspects of fantasy stories with each character having a different, unique power than another, so likewise, their choices of weapons are some of the aspects about them that intrigues me the most. The story I would probably like to tell is the path as to how these beings came upon to possessing these weapons. Were they bestowed upon them? Were they "chosen" to receive such weapons? These are the questions I hope to be answering when I write these stories. I would take any of the examples here, and then create its own story about it. (Source: Wikipedia)

Supernatural Characters of the Ramayana

Another topic that I would like to tackle is the "supernatural characters of the Ramayana." One of the reasons being that, being that these are myths and fables, it leaves a lot of room for the author to create characters that do not exactly fit the description of a "human." I've always been fascinated with these sorts of characters, especially in Greek mythology and the "morphing" of half-human, half-creature, such as the Minotaur and Centaur. The stories that I would read and write about this would involve the powers and abilities that these beings have that gives them an advantage over humans. Maybe they can run faster, maybe they possess supernatural strength, and any other animal-like qualities that humans do not possess. For example, supernatural beings, like the Gandharva, are the link between the gods and humans, stating that they are somewhere in between. (Source: Wikipedia).

The Chiranjivi: The Immortals

Something that has always fascinated me about common myths and fantasy series are the notion of immortal beings. Reading more about the Chiranjivis, I've come to see that there are a total of seven of them still living on this Earth until this very day; and I assume, each one of these immortals possesses their own unique set of skills and personalities that can make the stories much more interesting. Something I would write about is the possibility of all of them being in the same area at once and there would be an epic battle that breaks out. Who wins? Why do they win? Also, I would talk about what the issues they face during immortality, knowing that they will see it until the end of time. Perhaps even further. (Source: Wikipedia).

Creation Stories

Of course, talking about myths where there are so many gods and goddesses, there must also be stories about how they came to existence. This is perhaps one of the more overlooked aspect of reading mythology is that people are aware of how awesome and mighty and god and/or goddess is, but never truly pay to mind where or how they came from. Did they come from the creation of time and space? Were they the product of perhaps a god and another being? The stories that I would tell would be of a god/goddess creation from pure thought or maybe an accidental incident where an action from a god perhaps spawned something that he/she did not mean to create.
